Why Social Media Optimization ?

madplanBBS Global Diamond Elite, Mad Plan

Social Bandit

Why Social Media Optimization ?

By Harsh Dutta

SMO or Social Media Optimization is the latest trend in the field of online marketing. From hindsight SMO seems like an inevitable consequence of the rapid growth of social sites on the net as well as the recent bursts in popularity of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SMM (Social Media Marketing) but it differs from them in many ways. SEO as the name suggests involves more publicity on the organic searches of the various search engines but SMO involves more publicity on all the other sources. The term Social Media Optimization is attributed to a certain Mr. Rohit Bhargava.

Let us breakdown what SMO actually means. This requires us to understand what social media is. Social media is different from traditional media in the sense that it is much more interactive basically involving open discussions and dialogues about the relevant content which in turn can be anything and everything. Social media includes all the various social networking sites, internet forums, blogs as well as audio/video sharing. So now SMO can be taken to be an optimizing technique involving such online communities.

Your main aim in SMO is to promote yourself on the afore mentioned forums. But this does not mean blatant and mindless plugging. This process must be done very intelligently but don’t get scared off, anybody can do it.

If I put it in one line all then you have to modify your content so as to make it more promotion friendly. You want to be more visible on the internet as a whole excluding the search engines but the two are not mutually exclusive because if you are more visible throughout the web then your organic search ranks will automatically go up. You can easily publicize your site by making bookmarking and tagging easy. Just like anywhere else, a catchy title goes a long way in SMO. Your content should be concise and focused. Try to go for the top user status. The key here is to create link bait. It is kind of a word of mouth thing for the digital age. You want your link to be distributed as much as possible. For that you have to participate very fervently and regularly, and keep in mind that this is a two way process so be open and reply and comment on other peoples’ blogs etc.

Because it is still in its nascent stage, everyday new benefits and uses of SMO are being discovered. The single most important benefit of SMO is the targeted nature of its approach. Your links are promoted only and exactly where people might be interested or would sooner or later require your services. This ensures quality traffic i.e. traffic only from prospective clients. It can also generate quantity. SMO has been known to attract large amounts of traffic in a very short span of time but this does not mean that its effects are only short term. It guarantees steady traffic for a long time. Content sharing can be done in both audio and video formats, which is always an added advantage.

Looking at so many advantages you might be tempted in indulging in practices like spamming or distribution of biased information or violation of community rules or even paying for votes. But in accordance with online ethics such acts must be avoided at all.

The Private Label Club

Today I want to tell you about a new site that I just came across. It’s called Private Label Club and it’s brought to you by Jason Oickle.

To say that I am impressed would be a major understatement. I mean, what he is offering to free members is just insane.

This is one of the very few sites that I have found that is literally giving away so mach value to free members!

There really should be a monthly price tag on just the free membership alone!

Go see what I mean:
http://viralurl.com/markleonard/plrclub

What I love the most about Private Label Club is the powerful elite membership.

I mean, on top of the free content, as an elite member you’ll also get 300 plr articles, 24 headers, 12 adsense sites and 3 private label ebooks. And you’re going to get all that every single month like clockwork.

This is not just any old crappy content either!

Jason has a team of very talented people to make sure you get only the highest quality possible. It truly is superb, this is the only plr membership I will ever need.

I don’t want to waste any more of your time so I urge you to click the link below and secure you’re free membership before Jason decides to lock the doors forever.

Don’t let someone else grab your spot!

Use RSS Feeds to Increase Your Blog Traffic

Use RSS Feeds to Increase Your Blog Traffic

By DJ Judkins

Blogging is a great way to promote your business, but only if you can get people to read your blog. Are you looking for a fast, easy way to increase your blog readership? RSS feeds of your blog are the quick way to get your blog in front of thousands of people.

What are RSS Feeds?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and the premise of an feed is just as simple. This simple script takes any new content on your website and packages it in a quick and easy html coded bundle that can be added to any other website, so that hundreds of other websites can display new content on your blog as you post it. Readers can also subscribe to an RSS feed so that they instantly can tell when you have added new content to your blog. RSS feeds are the fastest way to alert readers to the fact that you have posted new content and RSS feeds are also the best way to distribute your blog content around the web.

Usually an RSS feed doesn’t give readers an entire post or an entire article but it gives them a short teaser and a link back to your blog to get readers to visit your blog. This can be a great way to get more readers to hit your blog.

How Can an RSS Feed Drive Blog Traffic?

Most people don’t have time to surf the Web all day long waiting for their favorite blogs to add new content or searching for new blogs that have content they are interested for. If a reader likes your blog that reader can subscribe to your feed to receive updates through email when you update your blog or that person can add the script for your RSS feed to his or her own blog so that everyone that reads that person’s blog will see your blog too. If the content on your blog looks interesting it will draw a lot of readers from blogs that have similar content.

Submitting your Blog Content to Other Sites

The best way to get lots of traffic to your blog is to make sure that the RSS feed of all the different categories of your blog get submitted to sites that are set up to be cleaning houses for RSS feeds. There are lots of websites that distribute RSS feeds from blogs to other sites around the Web and allow readers to sign up for RSS feeds from the blogs that they like but it can take a lot of time and effort to submit your own RSS feed to all of those sites.

Textwalking fines considered

Textwalking fines considered

By Louis R. Carlozo
Chicago Tribune

Article Last Updated: 08/01/2008 10:08:29 AM MDT

CHICAGO — Time was tight, and Kelly Scheiner of Streeterville, Ill., had many errands to run before her vacation to New Smyrna Beach, Fla. And so, a silver Nordstrom bag draped over her left forearm, she marched north on Michigan Avenue, crossing Illinois Street at a crisp clip, thumbs firing on her BlackBerry.

"It’s multitasking," said Scheiner, 32, an executive recruiter for a private equities firm. "I have to return these things at Nordstrom, and it’s a way to get more things done: checking e-mails, sending messages." Scheiner has no idea when she became a text-walker, though she knows some state officials, including Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, have spoken out in support of a new bill that would ban using a wireless device while crossing streets.

"I think that’s probably smart," said Scheiner as she walked across to the west side of Michigan Avenue, steps from the Shops at North Bridge entrance. "If someone’s (crossing the street) and not looking, it’s safer for the pedestrian" to avoid texting. Still Scheiner admitted: "Of course I do it. I’m pretty careful. I try to be. But I’m sure I’ve hit someone or something once or twice." The Illinois General Assembly bill, also known as HB 4520, was introduced in January by Rep. Ken Dunkin, D-Chicago, who then insisted: "This legislation is not laughable. On the surface it’s like, ‘Oh wow, what is this?’ But it’s becoming more and more of a common problem with people haplessly crossing an intersection and almost killing themselves." Under the proposed law, Illinois residents would get slapped with a misdemeanor and a $25 fine if caught using a cell phone or other wireless device while traversing streets.

"The secretary headed a task force on driver safety, and this issue came up, and he was intrigued by the idea," said David Drucker, a spokesman for Secretary of State White’s office. "He’s seen a couple of instances of (walking and texting) himself. Right now, though, he feels that it needs more study." Even as lawmakers take a closer look at the issue, texters might want to scrutinize their own abilities to divide their attention in so many directions.

The brain’s ability to take on several activities at once makes text-walking possible, researchers say, but it’s a delicate balancing act. All it takes is one unexpected disruption to turn a text-walk into a garble-stumble.

Not that many people seem aware of this. Stroll Chicago’s Loop or Magnificent Mile on any lunch hour, and you’ll see an omnipresent parade of text-walkers, with handhelds clutched, eyes cast down as they type, send and delete.

They’re in the suburbs too (visit any strip mall parking lot or retail center) and criss-crossing college campuses across the country.

At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, new-student orientations now include cautionary words from campus police about the perils of ped-texting, said University of Illinois Interim Police Chief Jeff Christensen.

The message? "Walk defensively," Christensen said. "The U. of I.

campus is a vibrant, bustling community that has a highly condensed population sharing a very small and busy area." Last August, a train struck and injured a teenager in Elmwood Place, Ohio, as he sent a text message from his cell phone. Oblivious to the train’s horns, he walked around crossing gates. The town’s dumbfounded mayor said that "the kid was apparently just daydreaming." In Springfield, Ill., Dunkin pressed for his bill by citing the deaths of two New York City pedestrians who were apparently walking and texting. And at other universities where walker free-for-alls in the streets were common long before cell phones, authorities now take care to make sure students and parents know text safety.

Students and young adults, so adept at texting, make up a large subset of the injured seen at Northwesten Memorial Hospital this summer, said James Adams, chief of emergency medicine. "We always see someone (who was) texting or calling, who would not have been in that accident had it not been for the phone," Adams said.

As for where the accidents occur, "(In Chicago), the Lake Shore path is ground zero, and so is Michigan Avenue," Adams says. "We see people tripping off curbs, off sidewalks, into planting grates. People are moving, it’s crowded and accidents happen." What’s worse, those accidents become complicated when it’s on the path, where pedestrians pose as much of a threat as they themselves might be threatened. Adams describes a typical scenario: "Someone is texting and walking a dog, the dog goes farther out on the leash and doesn’t get yanked back because the person is distracted. Then the dog goes into the path of a moving bike." When that happens, "Summers are ruined," Adams says. "It’s an emerging trend and one that has not anywhere near peaked." The text-walking trend highlights our obsession with making the most of every minute. "There’s this sense of compressed time — an expectation that we should be able to multitask and disengage from the larger world," said Mark Reinecke, chief of psychology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. "We should be in connection with others at all times, and respond to them immediately." RULES ARE EVOLVING Is this bad? Not necessarily, Reinecke thinks — though he adds we’re in a period of etiquette-wrestling similar to when cell phones first appeared on trains and buses: "Most people would not text in church, for example. The rules for how we should do this are still evolving." So, too, is the understanding of how people do both things at once without sending a garbled e-mail or tripping over a fire hydrant.

Text-walking involves mastering two independent skills. With the walking part, balance and posture, as involuntary actions, are controlled by the cerebellum. But years of stepping through high-traffic environments can yield hoofers wired to do many things at once, said Ofer M. Wellisch, who has conducted neuroscience research with the National Institutes of Health and is a consultant for the holistic health Web site Mamaherb.com.

"The brain gets input from many areas: sight, listening, touch," Wellisch said. "Your feet are sensing whether you are going up a or down a hill. As you go from a child to an adult, you integrate more functions into it." Then comes the typing part. Those who remember typing classes know you can memorize a keyboard to the point of not looking down. "It’s learned movements," Wellisch said.

To stroll and string keystrokes, the brain creates feedback between the dorsolateral frontal cortex (concerned with planning, strategizing and sequencing) and the parietal lobe (which integrates sensory information). The two brain areas harmonize to allow for multitasking, said Marsel Mesulam, a Northwestern University neurologist and psychiatry professor.

A JUGGLING ACT If walking/texting looks like a juggling act, Mesulam says, that’s a good analogy: "The answer is in the circus, you know? The guy juggles while he or she is on a horse, singing and doing other things.

You can teach yourself lots of tricks." Within reason, that is: "If you’re crossing a busy street and get a message that is pretty jolting, your ability to distribute your attention is compromised. You’re putting yourself at risk." Wellisch, who acknowledges text-walking, added: "It’s not something I could’ve done 10 years ago. It’s a matter of practice. Now it comes automatically.

"But would I recommend someone texting while driving? Absolutely not." And even those with every reason in the world to walk and text sometimes choose not to. Standing in line at Chicago’s Michigan Avenue Apple Store for the new iPhone, Sean Mansfield of the Loop paused to send messages from his texting device. By day, he works in financial services — but that fast-paced world has not drawn him into compulsive text-walking, he insists.

"I want to pay attention to what I’m doing, stay focused," said Mansfield, 25. "It’s somewhat dangerous to do in an urban environment." Mansfield then pointed to a man in a black T-shirt, crossing the street hunched in that familiar text-as-you-go posture: "See? There’s a guy doing it now. I don’t want to be that guy." ——— ‘IT’S A WAY OF LIFE FOR ME NOW’ When Noreen Heron Zautcke’s son sketched a picture of Mom in kindergarten class, he drew her with BlackBerry in hand. "I look at my BlackBerry from when I first wake up in the morning, up to eight hours a day," A businesswoman with a self-described "crackberry" dependency, Heron Zautcke learned to walk and text with blazing speed after buying a handheld last year. "I thought I’d never be able to master typing quickly; I was somewhat afraid of it," she says. "But that uncomfortable feeling lasted about an hour." As for how she does it, Heron Zautcke uses sightless typing, only occasionally glancing at the screen; "I can feel the keys at this point," she says. Not only does she walk and text, but also shops for food and chases after her kids while texting. She tries to keep replies short, taking care of business without getting bogged down in long e-chats. "I try to be concise," she says — the shorter the better to police against major typos. She’ll type "What do you think?" when forwarding a detailed proposal, and leave it at that.

So far, Heron Zautcke says, she’s never collided with a pedestrian, a pole or any stationary object. And while she’d never drive and type, any multitasking and texting scenario that’s safe she considers fair game. "When you’re a type-A person like I am, it gives me constant assurance that there’s nothing wrong, no fires to put out. It’s a way of life for me now." ——— LITERARY FLIP SIDE: READ-WALKING The half-mile stroll between the Silver Spring, Md., Metro stop and her general manager’s job at Olsson’s Books gives Alexis Akre time to catch up on her reading. Only she doesn’t do it in a cab or bus: She’s on foot.

"Someone remarked about it yesterday," says Akre, who was enjoying "Rules of Deception," a mystery-thriller by Christopher Reich. "He saw me do it as I walked in the building and said, ‘You must have good peripheral vision.’ I think that’s true. It helps me in my quest to keep reading and walking." In a nation of read-walkers, Akre represents a high-profile example. She has blogged about her habit on the Olsson’s Web site, with a post-modern literary flourish, no less: "At one point I was coming to a major intersection and occasionally glancing up so as not to walk into an oncoming commuter bus. I looked up and a woman was walking towards me with her nose buried in a book, but then she glanced up and gave me a quick ‘Hey, I’m not the only freak who walks and reads’ smile. Read-walkers unite!" And they have united, as "Margaret in Md." posted this reply to Akre: "Ooh, my mother always told me not to read while I was walking.

(But then, she also told me not to read at table, and she was wrong then, too.)" Read-walking requires skills similar to text-walking. Akre reckons she’s been an ambulatory reader at least since her English major days at Barnard College, 1991-95.

Akre also text-walks, but says of that activity: "It’s a different thing. Once you put your hands into it, it’s an entirely new distraction." Her advice for text-walkers? "Concentrate on peripheral vision.

Pay attention. Look up at the crosswalks." In other words, read your surroundings too.

"I feel pretty protected," Akre says of her read-walking regimen.

"But I don’t always notice the loose brick in the sidewalk, so there’s an occasional stumble." ——— (c) 2008, Chicago Tribune.

Charles Schultz Lesson

madplanBBS Global Diamond Elite, Mad Plan

Social Bandit

The Charles Schultz Lesson

By Edward Thorpe

If you’re like me, you’ve probably asked yourself "Hm, what kinda person am
I? Am I a good, honest, caring person?" etc.
What I’m getting at . . .

We all have some ideas about who we are and what we stand for, wouldn’t
you agree? Because you’re here and you don’t yet know me, you deserve to
know what kinda guy I am.

Actually, I couldn’t tell you the things important to me, any better than
Charles Schultz, the creator of the much-loved ‘Peanuts’ cartoon series, did.
The following was written by the late Charles Schultz and is a darn near perfect
description of how I view life in general.

(You don’t actually have to take the quiz below. Just read it straight through.
You’ll get the point.)

"The Charles Schultz Philosophy!"

  1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
  2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
  3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
  4. Name any ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.
  5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor.
  6. Name the last decade’s World Series winners.

"How did you do?"

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the
applause dies. Awards tarnish.
Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their
owners.

Anatomy of a Prospect’s Mind

Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one:

  1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
  2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
  3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
  4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
  5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
  6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

"Easier?"

The big lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most
credentials, the most money, or the most awards.
They are the ones that care.

Pass this on to those people who have made a difference in your life. And
don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in
Australia.

Written by "Peanuts" Creator, Charles Schultz…The SAME man who couldn’t

get a cartoonist job at The Disney Corporation…
Some ‘boss’ at Disney told Charles he lacked talent and was not creative.
Key Point: Don’t let others ‘label’ you. Mr. Schultz didn’t. Follow his lead. Follow
your heart. Live your life for "You".

How to get rich in Network Marketing

madplanBBS Global Diamond Elite, Mad Plan

Social Bandit

How to get Rich with Network Marketing

Network marketing is a marketing strategy being increasingly put to use by hundreds of home business owners nowadays. Network marketing is basically retailing products by using independent distributors. These distributors build and manage their own sales force by recruiting others to sell products. Each person in this downline is a distributor in his own right with his own sales team. This way a “network” of sales people for a particular product is formed. The upside is that the originating product manufacturer or marketer does not have to bear costly overheads of recruiting and maintaining their own sales team. Compensation for each distributor or sales person includes one’s own sales and a percentage of the sales of his or her entire downline.

In a way Network marketing is the same as MLM or Multi-Level Marketing…a term that has been thoroughly abused by ‘scamsters’ and frauds, mostly on the Internet. Though a whole lot of less than scrupulous people have caused some damage to the standing and credibility of this form of business, it nevertheless figures as a very cost effective revenue stream for a new entrepreneur. Another benefit of Network marketing is the training you get in operating a business; like selling, time management and keeping yourself motivated in the face of rejection. Also see:
http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/0,4621,298535,00.html

So how do you get started?

The first thing you would have to do is to select the right MLM Company. That is half the job done. With all those scams doing the rounds, it can get a little overwhelming trying to pin point the MLM company where you would want to participate. A lot of MLM companies fail because of various reasons. Some are not well financed; some don’t have a good, saleable product or haven’t been able to innovate to meet new customer requirements. Still others have shut shop because the federal government got wind of their less than holy dealings and acted fast. Even after those MLM guys who had to wind up, there are still some left that are the Real Mc Coys. These are the guys you need to fish out.

Here are some tips for selecting a good (read ‘Safe’) MLM company for starting your Network marketing business.

  1. Participate in an MLM company that has a proven track record for at least five years. We insist on the figure 5,because if the company has survived half a decade and made money, they would have a good product, enough capability to innovate and would be able to provide their downline with good back-end support.
  2. Look for selling a product that you believe in. Imagine yourself selling weight loss pills when you know for sure that a doctor would never recommend most of these pills! Bottomline is, you can’t sell a product if you don’t have faith in it.
  3. Seek out a company that provides solid backend support and marketing infrastructure to its downline. It can rip the shirt off your back to develop new marketing literature for your customers and for your downline.

What next?

Once you have selected the right MLM company, the next logical step would be to decide your sales strategy. Devise a plan for lead generation for the product you will be selling. In your plan include what targets you need to set to break even, what sales literature you will use and yes, most importantly… how will you develop your downline. Don’t forget that one part of your income will come from them. It is a better idea to have 3-4 quality agents in your level-I downline, than to recruit everyone and their cousin and not have a single dime come at the end of the month. At this point of time, It is usually a good idea to focus on the primary product you chose for marketing rather than include a host of other lucrative offers. It is easy to lose focus and spread yourself out thin that way.

Finally, how to get rich with Network marketing?

Even with all those bad apples in the bunch, Network marketing is still a very effective marketing strategy. Al you have to do is chose the right company and avoid the ‘scambags’, get the right mentors and then build a solid downline of effective sales people. You can get some information on how to avoid fraudulent ‘MLM-ers’ at these websites:
http://www.stopspam.org/faqs/mlm_vs_pyr.html http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/pyrdalrt.htm

One of the biggest reasons (and there are several; take a look at: http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol4/MLMsurvival.htm) why Network marketing runs out of gas is that your MLM company hits the ground. Though it doesn’t have to happen to you, if you’ve been careful in choosing company, it is still a possibility. You can pre-empt this situation by “Diversifying”. Join several MLM companies which sell similar or related products and you will not only have multiple income streams but would have also spread out your risk.

Another big reason for failure in Network marketing is poor or ineffective downline. Some trouble areas that you could experience with your network are:- New members find it difficult to sell- New members are unable to generate new leads- Selling techniques being used are not suited to the medium- There is a high outward mobility of new members

The trick to succeeding is to tackle these trouble areas at the time of recruitment. When you recruit new members, provide them with ample literature on the company and the product, train them on sales techniques by example and keep your team motivated. They are, by themselves a strong revenue stream for you.

I remember a couple of lines from a song I heard once, “ Chance is not choices, Noise is not voices”. If you look carefully, two of the biggest secrets of success in any business lie in there. “Chance is not Choices”… There is difference between falling upon a lucky clover and growing them yourself. So plan your business carefully, choose a good MLM company and build your sales downline with care.

“Noise is not Voices”… the world is out there “revealing” secrets of sure shot success “just for you”. That’s just noise. Listen to your own experiences; what they have taught you is invaluable. And when you teach the same to your downline, you enhance the possibility of your business’ success.

Network marketing may not work 95% of the times, but there are still those 5 chances out of a 100 when it will work. So plan for success in Network marketing and reap the benefits.

Getting Started with Mammoth List

madplanBBS Global Diamond Elite, Mad Plan

Social Bandit

It’s exceptionally important that you fathom the steps to take to engage in Mammoth List.

The structure resembles a chain letter tack. There’s 5 spots where you embark at the bottom and as each layer progresses, you move up one position until you proceed through all five spots.

But before you can get your own affiliate link and promote this system, you must register with Mammoth List and pay each of the five on your list $2 each through ALERT PAY.

And that’s what you need to do first. Go forward and register on Mammoth List, but, if you don’t already have an Alert Pay account (it’s like PayPal), you need to get that set up right away.
Also I advocate you open a new Gmail account for easy tracking.

Registering is simple, but in order to add funds to your account, you need to either wire, mail, or transfer funds from your bank account (much like PayPal), and then verify the micropayments Alert Pay will deposit into your account. Personally, I recommend a bank transfer as this is free. This can take up to 5 business days, so the sooner you get it done, the better.

If you want to get started RIGHT AWAY (recommended), you can use a credit or debit card through ALERT PAY and get the procedure rolling fast.

Additional option is to use SafePay to initially pay your sponsors. SafePay accepts mastercard too, but if you choose to use them, they tack on a $2.00 processing fee adding your total cash
payment to $14 instead of $12.

One it’s verified, you need to add funds to your ALERT PAY account. I would put in $15 to cover the $2 fee Mammoth List will charge, the $10 ($2.00 x 5 people) on your Mammoth List and any small fees ALERT PAY may charge.

SO HERE’S THE BREAKDOWN STEP BY STEP:

1. Open a new free Gmail account.

2. Sign up on Mammoth List using your new Gmail account.

3. Open a personal pro or business account on ALERT PAY.

4. add a bank account to ALERT PAY - after 3-5 business days, ALERT PAY should have deposited 2 micro deposits (like 12 cents and 18 cents).

5. After verifying you bank account on ALERT PAY, add $15 to your ALERT PAY account.

6. Log on to your Mammoth List account and pay the people on your list.

7. Now you should have your own unique affiliate Mammoth List website ready to go market!
